One of the oldest and most visible murals in Wheaton underwent a remarkable transformation this summer when Wheaton Arts Parade restored the historic "Rescue a Single Life and You Rescue the World" mural. The mural is located on the exterior of the Banco Agricola Building, facing Parking Lot 13 at the corner of Grandview and Ennalls Avenues. The mural was created in 2008 in a collaborative effort involving students from Evergreen Montessori School, their art teacher, Tim Holtzclaw, and the Wheaton Redevelopment Program. The students were inspired to create this mural after a visit to the Wheaton Rescue Squad.

The restoration project was made possible thanks to a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council "Public Art Across Maryland" Conservation Grant Program and a generous contribution from the property owner, Leonard Greenberg of Greenhill Companies. Leading the restoration team was renowned Wheaton area artist Eric Ricks, who has worked on numerous murals in the DC Metro region, including Wheaton's newest mural on Price St. at Georgia Ave. Ricks was assisted in the restoration by local artist and WAP Gallery manager Paige Friedeman, Malik Harp, and Tim Cunningham

Current students from Evergreen School had the opportunity to visit the mural last spring before its restoration began. They followed the restoration process over the summer with the teachers Mrs. Felicia Hatziyannis and Mrs. Fiola Van Der Meer. The students and teachers returned for the dedication on October 6, 2023 that was attended by Montgomery County Councilmember Natalie Fani-Gonzalez, Greenhill representative Tim Morrell, and the mural restoration team. WAP Board members, Omar Lazo, Lisa Traiger and Mary Stickles and Executive Director Dan Thompson also were in attendance.
